Your Questions, Answered

  • Yes. I am currently accepting new clients for virtual appointments.

  • Yes. I currently accept Aetna, Carelon, Cigna, Oscar, Oxford, Quest Behavioral Health, and United Healthcare. Coverage may vary by plan — feel free to contact me or your insurance with questions before our first session.

  • Yes. I'm licensed in North Carolina, so by law I can only see clients who are physically located in NC at the time of session.

  • Our first session is a chance for us to really meet, not to fix anything yet.

It's 60 minutes, over secure video. All you need is a quiet space and some privacy. You don't have to prepare anything or have your thoughts organized before logging on.

I'll ask what brought you in, what you've tried before, what's going on in your life now, and what you'd like to be different. You can share as much or as little as feels right. If something doesn't feel relevant yet, we'll come back to it later.

By the end of the hour, you'll have a sense of how I work and whether it feels like a fit. If it does, we'll talk about frequency, scheduling, and what the first few weeks might look like. If it doesn't, that's useful information too; I'd rather you find the right therapist than feel obligated to keep working with me.

  • Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Initial intake is 30-60 minutes.

  • Most clients start weekly. As we make progress, we may move to every other week. We'll decide together based on what's most useful for you.

  • I ask for at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee, since the time can't be filled on short notice. Insurance does not reimburse for missed sessions, so the fee is your responsibility.

If you're sick or something urgent comes up, please reach out as soon as you know. I'm reasonable, and life happens. The policy is in place for repeated last-minute changes, not one-off emergencies.

  • Yes, with the standard exceptions, all licensed counselors are required to disclose: imminent risk of harm to self or others, suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, and court order. I'll cover this in detail at our first session.

  • If you're in immediate crisis, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room. My practice is not equipped to provide emergency or after-hours response.
